Quartz Technlology, Inc. (QTI) is a technology company specializing in the evaluation and beneficiation of quartz resources while applying all quartz melting technologies. The undersigned developed the original IOTA QUARTZ technology for International Minerals and Chemical Corporation (IMC) before this manufacture was indirectly sold to UNIMIN CORPORATION.

                                                           

IOTA QUARTZ, since its inception, has been the world leader in high purity granular quartz. It is available in a multitude of different grades ranging from IOTA Standard to IOTA 8.  The latter being the highest purity grade produced from fine grained pegmatites and kaolinized pegmatites of the Spruce Pine District of North Carolina. It is being sold at prices of approximately USD 4,000 per ton (IOTA STD) to USD 10,000 per ton (IOTA 8).

 

The IOTA QUARTZ is being used in the manufacture of  fused quartz products that serve the lighting industries, the semi conductor grade silicon and the PV industries just to name a few. The IOTA QUARTZ has reached its purity limits based on the complete removal of all impurities including some by way of ion exchanges.

Yet some of the applications still demand higher purities at lower prices which could not have been overcome through the introduction of chemically prepared silicas.

 

In pursuit of this demand QTI has identified a new natural quartz resource that exceeds the purity and the life expectancy, of the current IOTA 8 resource and all other Spruce Pine resources,

 

The new resource is also from the USA but not from the Spruce Pine District of North Carolina. Its processing is simpler than that of IOTA 8 (no hot chlorination). Hence the manufacturing costs are lower than that of IOTA 8 meaning the quartz could be sold at much lower prices.

 

The chemistry of the new resource quartz after full physical and chemical beneficiation in ppm weight is:

 

Al=3.5,  B=0.1,  Ca=0.2,  Cr=<0.001,  Cu=<0.001 Fe=0.01, K=<0.02 , Li=<0.01 , Mg=<0.01 , Mn=<0.01,

Na=<0.01, P=<0.01, Ti=1.0,  Zr=<0.1.

 

At current world market consumption QTI estimates that its life expectancy is at least 40 – 60 years if mined only to a depth of 20 meters, even though the resource extends to several thousand feet.

QTI has pilot planted this material and has developed the processing circuit by which this material can be produced at approximately USD 1,000 per ton.

 

QTI is selling this project and is seeking investors for a USD 29 million investment (starting from scratch) for a 30,000 TPA  plant that includes start up and the cost for the first year of operation.

 

If the product is being sold at the lowest IOTA QUARTZ prices of USD 4,000 per ton, the annual revenue would be

USD 120,000,000. Hence, the ROI would be less than one (1) year.

 

The projected low manufacturing cost are based on a) a physical beneficiation plant near the resource, to minimize transportation costs, and b) a hydrofluoric acid (HF) leaching plant in an overseas country where the spent HF is utilized for the manufacture of aluminum fluoride and otherwise completely reused rather than neutralized.

 

In the interest of making this project the new world leader of high purity quartz, the undersigned has decided to suspend all other QTI activities until this project has been established.
